Community Guidelines
Our Mission
CloakShell is built for communities that value privacy, respect, and genuine connection. These guidelines help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all users. By using CloakShell, you agree to follow these guidelines.
1. Respect Others
- Treat all community members with respect and dignity
- Disagree constructively. Attack ideas, not people
- Do not engage in harassment, bullying, or intimidation
- Hate speech and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, age, or disability are prohibited
- Respect others' privacy. Do not share personal information without consent
- Do not impersonate other users, public figures, or CloakShell staff
2. No Doxxing
Sharing another person's private information without their explicit consent is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to:
- Real names (when not publicly shared by the individual)
- Home or work addresses
- Phone numbers
- Workplace or school information
- Financial or government-issued identification information
- Photographs intended to identify someone against their will
Doxxing is a zero-tolerance offense. Any account found to be sharing others' private information will be permanently banned without warning.
3. No NSFW Content
CloakShell has a strict no-NSFW policy. This includes:
- Sexually explicit or suggestive content
- Graphic violence or gore
- Content depicting or promoting self-harm
- Drug-related imagery
- Hate symbols or imagery
- Content that sexualizes minors in any way (zero tolerance)
Automated enforcement: uploaded images and videos are automatically scanned for prohibited content before being stored. Flagged uploads are rejected before they reach the community. Public-facing fields like usernames, display names, community names, channel names, and role names are automatically filtered for prohibited content.
Automated moderation is a first line of defense. Human moderators review reports and may take action on content that bypasses automated checks.
Violations result in immediate content removal and may lead to account suspension or permanent ban.
4. No Spam or Manipulation
- Do not flood channels or forums with repetitive content
- Do not use bots or automation to send unsolicited messages
- Do not engage in phishing, scams, or deceptive practices
- Do not artificially inflate engagement or manipulate the platform
5. No Illegal Activity
- Do not use CloakShell to plan, promote, or facilitate illegal activities
- Do not share pirated content or infringing material
- Do not distribute malware, exploits, or harmful software
- Do not attempt to hack, exploit, or compromise the platform or other users' accounts
6. Community Moderation
Community owners and moderators are responsible for enforcing these guidelines within their communities. They may set additional rules as long as they do not conflict with these platform-wide guidelines.
Moderators should:
- Enforce rules fairly and consistently
- Not abuse moderation powers for personal reasons
- Escalate serious violations to platform administrators
7. Reporting Violations
If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it using the in-app reporting tools. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. You will not be penalized for reporting in good faith.
8. Enforcement
Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- Warning: for minor or first-time violations
- Content removal: offending content is removed by community moderators
- Kick: removal from a community without a ban
- Temporary ban: temporary suspension from a community or the platform
- Permanent ban: permanent removal from the platform for severe or repeated violations
The severity of enforcement depends on the nature and frequency of violations. We aim to be fair and proportionate in all moderation actions.
Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may appeal by emailing hello@cloakshell.com within 14 days of the action. Appeals are reviewed by a member of the moderation team who was not involved in the original decision. You can expect a response within 7 business days.
